These Songs grew out of the limited interaction between the Archangel of Flowers and certain ethereal fertility gods and goddesses. Said collaboration took place long before the Purity Crusade, of course. Any suggestion that Novalis continues to work in tandem with the better class of ethereals to improve these Songs and others is a vile canard against a hardworking Archangel; anyone found spreading such rumors is a prime candidate for debriefing - ah, 'investigation' by the Divine Inquisition.

This Song was often used to bless crops. Plants affected by this Song will have all diseases, contaminants and parasites removed: this is usually good for an increase of 50% in eventual crop yields. Use of this Song will also straighten out any irregularities in planting or cultivation.

Normally, all vegetation within the area of effect will benefit, but the performer may limit what plants will be aided by making a Precision roll at -2.

This Song is quite often used by ethereals associated with agriculture. When surrounded by a group of willing participants during a spring planting, the performer may gather up to 2 Essence from each participant and bind it to the crops. This Essence is used to aid getting the crop in: in game terms, if an important roll is failed regarding the cultivation or harvesting of the crops, the Essence reserve is decreased by the amount necessary to retroactively make the roll succeed. Any Essence left over at the end of the harvest will flow to the original performer. Note that this Essence use (but not the Song) does not cause disturbance.

The performer may strengthen the fruits of the harvest. All harvested vegetable material affected by the Song will become immune to rot or decay until the next spring's planting. Seeds will retain full potency (which, in earlier historical periods, will result in significantly higher yields). Those consuming at least one pound of the strengthened foodstuffs will receive a +2 to all rolls to resist disease for the next three days, providing that they could normally safely digest it.
