Twin Knives
These artifacts are based on the originals held by the ethereal Castor and Pollux: Eli wasn't too thrilled to be handed the originals (still bloody), but he had to admit that the effect would be useful to duplicate. Diabolical versions soon followed. In either case, the relics must be worn or carried in order for them to work.
The basic concept behind Twin Knives is to provide a link between a mortal and a… non-mortal. The relics have several powers. First, a holder of one will always know where the holder of another is. Among other things, this means that a celestial holding a Twin Knife may use his/her/its resonance on the holder of the other as if the celestial was touching the target. Second, the two holders of a particular set of knives may share Essence freely. Third, and possibly most importantly, they may also share abilities held in common: if both have the same skill or Song, use the higher effective level for rolls.
These abilities, of course, come with a price. The pain of damage done to one holder will be transmitted to the other: divide the damage by four (rounded up) to reflect the shock to the system. Also, if one holder is successfully resonated, the other must make a Will roll or immediately suffer the same effects. Worst of all (from the mortal's point of view), should either holder suffer corporeal death, the other must immediately roll versus Will or do the same. Celestial vessels aren't actually destroyed, but the angel/demon goes into Trauma anyway (except for Malakim: they just suffer a further 4d6 Body hits on the vessel in question). Mortals will have a heart attack: admittedly, this is treatable in the modern area, but it still isn’t what one could call a pleasant experience.
